THE COMPANY

KIAKA PROJECT

The Company acquired the Kiaka Gold Project (Kiaka) in 2021. Kiaka is large-scale, permitted development open pit project and hosts 7.7Moz gold Mineral Resource (280Mt at 0.9 g/t Au). Kiaka has a long-life, low-cost project averaging 219,000ozpa for 18.5 years at AISC of US$1,052/oz.
Construction of the Kiaka Gold Project is well underway, including the processing mills, camp, building infrastructure, civil works and community projects.

The Operational Readiness team is focussing on the procurement of equipment and services, establishment of systems and employment / training of personnel to ensure that the operational schedule is achieved.

SANBRADO GOLD PROJECT

Sanbrado is located about 90km east-southeast of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso and encompasses both underground and open pit mining operations. Sanbrado is on track to produce 190,000-210,000oz at Sanbrado in 2024 at AISC of <US$1,300/oz; with a remaining mine life of at least 10 years at an average of 200,000ozs.

THE ROLE

The Company is seeking to employ an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Superintendent to work as part of our Open Pit Mining team.

The initial focus of the Mine OHS Superintendent will be to support the Open Pit Mining team (owner mining) in establishing OHS processes and standards in accordance with legislative requirements and corporate guidelines.

Our ideal candidate will have comprehensive experience in the development, planning and implementation of high standards of work health and safety policies in either an owner mining or contract mining environment.

The OHS Superintendent will work closely with the Mining Training Superintendent to ensure that consistent standards and processes are developed and adopted. The Superintendent roles (Training and OHS) will provide coverage for each role.

Essential to the success of this role will be collaboration and alignment with the Kiaka OHS Manager who will be employed prior to the commencement of operations.

Role Responsibilities:
Work as part of the operational readiness team to ensure that OHS systems, procedures and processes are developed, implemented and trained to support the safe commencement of mining operations.
Monitor and implement safety management systems in accordance with legislative requirements.
Establish and monitor contractor compliance in alignment with safety management systems.
Establish effective working relationships with local OHS, training providers and suppliers.
Work closely and in collaboration with the lead Kiaka OHS and Training team to ensure standards and systems are aligned.
Develop and deliver work specific OHS induction programs.
Develop fit for purpose systems in relation to incident reporting and investigations.
Develop and maintain the risk register and facilitate risk assessments for the open pit mining department.
Participate in and lead ICAM investigations for the open pit mining team, and other areas as required.
Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits and monitor compliance.
Prepare OHS performance reports for the open pit mining department, including metrics, trends and areas for improvement.
Mentor a safe working culture.
Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in the role you will be an experienced safety and training professional within the mining industry and will have the following:
Tertiary qualification in OHS or related field.
5+ years’ experience in mining OHS & Training senior / leadership roles (owner mining or contract mining environment).
In-depth knowledge and understanding of developing mining OHS systems and processes aligned with legislative requirements.
A working knowledge of mining operations in West Africa / Burkina Faso.
Good knowledge and understanding of safety management systems, auditing and incident reporting and investigation, along with ICAM Lead required.
High level of personal organisational and communication skills
The ability to multi-task, be customer-focused with excellent problem-solving skills
Enthusiastic, hands-on approach
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and OHS management reporting software.
Bilingual English / French (highly regarded).
